The
purpose of the Baptist Layman is to "equip every man and boy
to become a participant in the church as a life-style missionary."
Leaders work to inform, motivate and to involve men and boys in
praying, studying, enlisting, giving, ministering and witnessing
in their community and to their world. 1. Engage in mission
activities. These activities include
mission action, personal evangelism, mass evangelism, and special
mission projects. 2. Teach missions.
We want to first involve men in mission and then having activated
their interest, move them into study. 3.
Pray for and give to missions. The Baptist Layman
must have a heart for mission and with the heart for missions that
leads us to pray continually for missions. The Baptist Layman also
supports mission offerings that help carry out the great commission.
4. Develop personal ministry.
This means "to discover and implement a service to others which
a person is uniquely and spiritually gifted to perform."
5. Interpret and undergird the work
of the church and the denomination. Accomplishing this
task strengthens not only the Baptist Layman work but also that of the church and the various
agencies of the denomination. |
