1. Equip church members
for discipleship and personal ministry. New church members,
established church members, and church leaders should have opportunities
to grow and to participate effectively in fulfilling the ministry/mission
of the church as it relates to worship, proclamation, witnessing,
ministering, nurturing and education. 2.
Teach Christian theology and Baptist
doctrine, Christian ethics, Christian history, and church polity
and organization.
Understanding Christian Theology and doctrines of our faith are
essential to fulfilling the mission within a New Testament church.
Christian ethics helps believers to understand the impact of their
theology on the thinking and decision making process. Instruction
in Christian history, church polity and organization assist church
members and leaders in our efforts to recognize the contributions
of our forefathers and to learn from both their experiences and
established structures. 3. Equip church leaders
for service. God provides the leaders
necessary to accomplish the goals of the church. It is the Nurture
for Baptist Churches job to help members to discover their gifts
for leadership, and provide the necessary training for leadership
before they are enlisted to serve in specific places of responsibility
in the church's ministries. 4. Interpret and undergird
the work of the church and the denomination.
The Nurture for Baptist Churches department should be available
to present the goals, plans, and activities of the church and the
denomination, and to explain their significance. It also means the
Nurture for Baptist Churches department should cooperatively support
the work of the other church ministries and those of the denomination.
The Nurture for Baptist Churches department is an organization that
is a part of the church and the denomination. The training department
has a unique opportunity to relate to this interpreting and undergirding
task. Its curriculum should carry appropriate helps to educate and
lead church members in their understanding of and support for their
church and denomination. |
